At 5:00pm Saturday August 12, 2017, an exhibition entitled Spanning Ten Thousand Nautical Miles will be held at the Artosino Gallery in Manhattan, New York, which will remain open on August 12 and 13. This is the third leg of the exhibition tour entitled Drifting Time and Space – Zeng Ni’s Water Color Exhibition 2017 following her last legs in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Zeng Ni is an outstanding artist, whose works contain pure art and profound ideas altogether.
--Jonathan Goodman, contemporary art critic, professor of Pratt Institute, New York
Zeng Ni has, in 2017, staged 7 exhibition tours respectively in Beijing, Chengdu and Chongqing, and San Francisco and Los Angeles, which have been well received far and wide.
Born into an artist family, Zeng Ni, in her study life as a visiting scholar at Stanford, broke her own set pattern in art and wandered between the East and the West, on the demarcation between her native land and the foreign land. This style produced a sense of flowing life, drifting time and space in her works.
Her ceaseless attention to the natural landscape, the continuation and change of the historical landscape made her an artist bearing great responsibilities and deep sentiments for her own country and family. Her works blend the landscape, the social upheaval and her personal vision behind the upheaval altogether, endowing water color with a brand-new visual enchantment.
From an overall perspective, Zeng Ni, as a female artist, has never been indulged in her petty self-pitying sentiments. Instead, she prefers to manifesto her ideas at the top of her voice in an open square. Her works, however, are neither blatant nor cool, but soundless and stirless, faintly discernible just like the slow-moving currents in the Pacific, which hide turbulent undercurrents every moment until to the abyss of your inner experience.

Striding Across Ten Thousand Nautical Miles
Zeng Ni is a petite, delicate lady, but at the same time she is also doughty and mighty as you can describe for her character and the way she works things out. Beginning from her first show of Drifting Time and Space – Zeng Ni’s Water Color on Paper Exhibition at the art gallery of Sichuan University on March 19, 2017, she has, in merely half a year, covered some ten thousand nautical miles of geographical obstacles from Chengdu, Beijing and Chongqing to San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, present at five art galleries in China and Fremont Main Library in San Francisco, Cenmill in Los Angeles, and here at the Arbo Art Space in New York, which will be the eighth leg of her ongoing exhibition tour. This is a hard journey, yet it’s the continuation and transcending of art that is even more arduous. It’s an art practice exclusively owned by Zeng Ni, not copyable or imitable.
Zeng Ni is a beautiful lady. Her pursuit of beauty runs throughout her life and art. Much earlier before the exhibition, she plunged herself into the study of the plan of the Arbo Art Space without missing out the details. She planned the reasonable use of materials in order to enhance the atmosphere and achieve a best interaction between her works and the space. Consequently, every day we can see her petite, dedicated figure in the exhibition room, knowing that she may be incubating new ideas.
Zeng Ni is a warm-hearted lady. She has a passion for life and boasts many friends. That’s the reason why she can accomplish a number of unscheduled exhibition tours within such a short time. As I learnt that she would go back to China after the Los Angeles leg of her exhibition tour, I incited her to continue the tour eastward, and it finally turned out to be possible that we can have this hard-won third leg of her exhibition tour in America.
This year has witnessed Zeng Ni scoring numerous praises from art critics at home and abroad – gifted, hardworking, skillful, and having profound ideas. Here I want to say that artists like her are few and female artists are even more precious. What’s more, she is progressive constantly, making herself more impressive. This is an expectant art show and I believe you will get lost into the depth of art experience.
5:00pm August 12, 2017 at the Artosino Gallery, let’s expect to see Zeng Ni shine resplendently in her artistic achievements in New York.
